My very important message to you,

"Learning wrong lasts a lifetime.  Learning right does too! Your teen's safety depends on you."

Parents for Teens Driving Safely is a company devoted to showing parents how to become effective driving coaches for their new driver.  Extensive research shows that most parents are not prepared to teach their teens to drive.  Unfortunately, most parents will attempt to teach their teens to drive without any formal training on effective teaching techniques.   The result is a poorly trained driver with a new license.  In most states, the driver's test is simple to pass and will not reveal your teens poor preparation until its too late.

I have put together a unique training program for parents who will soon be teaching their teen to drive.  The program was derived from the process of how pilots learn to fly airplanes. The complexity of today's driving environment contains the same basic elements as flying such as rapidly changing environments, instrument panel technology, sudden hazards, distractions, and the requirement for quick and proper decision making.

I have been a pilot and flight instructor for over 33 years.  Receiving and providing training in very complex and dynamic environments has been an essential part of my career whether operating a small Cessna 152 or Boeing 767 commercial aircraft.  As an Aviation Safety Inspector with the Federal Aviation Administration, I investigated many aircraft accidents and witnessed first hand the consequences of poor training and minimum experience.  Referencing available highway statistics, I found interesting parallels among our young drivers.  Sadly, our teens are not adequately prepared to drive and parents could do a much better job if they only knew how.

Take a look at the two instrument panels below.  The two are very similar in complexity and when you add the dynamics of the fast paced environment it can be overwhelming for the new driver/pilot.  Unfortunately, when you start teaching in a vehicle, you will not have the added safety benefit of an extra set of controls in front of you like in an airplane!

  Small general aviation aircraft

  Small sports car

Why couldn't many of the instructional techniques used in teaching someone to fly be applied to automobiles?  It can, and I am confident that once you learn a few simple tools, you can teach and assess essential driving skills.  I have taught many people to fly, including teenagers.  More importantly, I  successfully instilled in them the realization they will have the lives of their passengers in their control.  Additionally, they were taught to realize how their actions directly impacts the safe operation of pilots (and drivers) around them.  Together, we must instill in our children the awesome responsibility that comes with driving a vehicle.

I sincerely hope to see your order for one of our exciting and informative parent instructing kit.

Again, thank you for visiting our site.
